My body of work is about experiencing beauty and its temporality—that vulnerable state that is accessible each day but often overlooked in our push to succeed and take care of practical concerns. My painting involves feeling and sensing in the present moment; I consider it to be the source of my deepest and and most authentic voice.

Flux is a constant metaphor in my work. I begin with no reference, generating marks and shapes that flow from an innate visual language. Thought and no thought, balance and imbalance, calm and anxiety—all are allowed as a part of the process.
There are many layers in my work, and most paintings have had several incarnations. I am not immortal, but in the process and painting, I find a sense of connection that transcends time, often taking me out of the body... and into The Floating World.

"We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep."  —Shakespeare, The Tempest, Act Four
